Rishi Sunak hints taxes will rise this year to pay for the cost of Covid-19 response
The i says Rishi Sunak has signalled he is preparing to raise taxes later this year to pay for the Covid-19 recovery, claiming the “crisis phase” of the recession is now over.
In an interview on the new TV channel GB News, the Chancellor insisted he was committed to the pensions “triple lock” – but would not promise to push through an 8 per cent rise to pensioners’ incomes if the law as it stands demands it.
