Heavily pregnant Rihanna made a surprise appearance at CinemaCon to drop the huge news that she will be starring as Smurfette in the upcoming Smurfs Movie.
The We Found Love singer, who is set to welcome her second child with boyfriend A$AP Rocky, confirmed the news at the Las Vegas event, earlier today.
Appearing at Caesar’s Palace Hotel and Casino alongside the head of Paramount Animation, the 35-year-old couldn’t help but joke that she actually had her eye on another role before coming on board.
‘I tried to get the Papa Smurf role but It didn’t work out,’ she said, via Variety.
‘I get to show up in my PJs in my third trimester,’ the Hollywood Reporter said she joked to the crowd.
‘I hope this gives me cool points with my kids one day.’

The Grammy-winner is no stranger to the big screen, having previously starred in Ocean’s 8, Home, and Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.
She will also be following in some very famous Smurf footsteps, as Katy Perry and Demi Lovato have taken on the beloved cartoon character in the past.
As well as channeling the Smurfette of our dreams, it was announced that Rihanna is set to write and record new music for the flick – meaning we’re getting probably getting our hands on a Smurfs soundtrack before R9.
Unsurprisingly, fans were beside themselves over the announcement, and flocked to Twitter to discuss the role.
‘MOTHER!!! Music would’ve been better but I guess let’s take what we can at this point,’ a follower said.

A Twitter user suggested: ‘She’s doing this for her kids.’
As a commenter added: The most random thing to ever happen in cinema WHAT?’

We’ll still have a long wait before the Smurfs Movie hits the big screen, as it is slated to be released on February 14, 2025.
Little else has been shared about the plot, but Chris Miller is serving as director, while Pam Brady has written the script.
It’s a very busy time for RiRi, who is currently expecting baby number two with rapper A$AP.
The lovebirds welcomed their first child – a little boy – on May 13 last year, but have yet to confirm his name publicly.
Just a few months later, the Grammy-winner announced that they have a second bundle of joy on the way, during her legendary performance at the Super Bowl Halftime show in February.

Speaking about motherhood in an interview with Vogue, beside a jaw-dropping photoshoot – she said: ‘You really don’t remember life before, that’s the craziest thing ever.
‘Essentially, from one person I became two. You walk into the hospital as a couple and leave as a family of three. It’s nuts.
‘And oh, my gosh, those first days are insane. You don’t sleep. At all. Not even if you wanted to. We came home, cold turkey, had no one. It was just us as parents and our baby. Man, you’re a zombie for the most part.’
