The i – ‘Revealed: plans for October ‘firebreak’ 

The i newspaper says there are plans for an October “firebreak”, which would see an extended half-term holiday and rules on masks, to tackle rising hospital cases from Covid. The paper says a senior government scientist told it the measure could be introduced next month and there have been warnings of an “extended peak” of infections.
