Remembering Princess Diana, who said she wanted to be ‘Queen of people’s hearts’
Remembering Princess Diana during the coronation, Britain’s beloved princess who said she wanted to be ‘Queen of people’s hearts’
Today marks the coronation of King Charles and his second wife Camilla – the woman who had an affair with Charles whilst he was still married to the late Princess Diana – Prince William and Harry’s mum.
Diana famously said she never believed she would be Queen but instead said she wanted to be “Queen of people’s hearts.” She had also said of Camilla … “There was three of us in this marriage … so it was a bit crowded,” in an infamous BBC interview in 1995. In recent years, the BBC has apologised for the interview after it was revealed the interviewer Martin Bashir had used illegal tactics to gain the princess’s trust including faking bank statements.
Now, 26 years after her death, her ex-husband is about to be crowned King and Camilla Queen. Many in Britain feel some in the royal family are trying to airbrush Diana from royal history – but her legacy lives on in her sons William and Harry.
Here is a look back on her life in images – remembering the people’s princess.
