    Media Coverage

The story dominates every major publication in Britain as the chancellor today will outline her plans for Britain. Many will look to see if there is any indication she could U-turn on the scrapping of the winter fuel allowance whilst she promises no fresh austerity.

Online the story remains popular and will likely stay popular across social media.

Other trending stories for the country include the drama from the weekend’s Premier League action which has been dubbed a ‘thrilling encounter’.

‘No new Austerity’ Reeves to Offer a more Positive Version of Britain Amid Doom-and-Gloom

‘No new austerity,’ is the trending story across the UK today as the chancellor is to give a speech in which she will promise there will not be a return to austerity. The newspapers preview Chancellor Rachel Reeve’s speech saying she will offer a more positive version of the future after dire warnings about the economy since Labour came to power.

The Labour Party conference started yesterday – their first party conference in power in more than 15 years.

The story dominates every front page as well as online and will likely continue to do so for much of the week, as the British public looks to the government to understand what the future of Britain will look like.

    Basic facts

    • The Labour Party Conference started on Sunday
    • Chancellor Rachel Reeves will deliver her speech today at the conference in Liverpool
    • She will vow there will be “no return” to austerity under a Labour government
    • She will say that her first budget, due October 30, will “rebuild Britain” and deliver change
    • The party conference comes amid a row over party donations, party sleaze and the chancellor’s ‘doom-and-gloom’ warnings about the public finances

    The reaction

Almost all the front pages lead on a preview of the chancellor’s upcoming speech. Many pick up on her promise that the country will not return to austerity.

The more right-leaning publications continue to pile on the pressure over the scrapping of the winter fuel allowance whilst highlighting the sleaze row the new government has been embroiled in for the past few weeks – accepting free Premier League tickets, clothes and glasses donations as well as holidays paid for by wealthy party donors.

The left-leaning media looks for a more positive angle whilst noting the damage to the country under a Conservative government that unleashed austerity on the country 13 years ago.

Online there is a mixed reaction as the public awaits for Reeves to deliver her speech.

This is no laughing matter, Rachel Reeves is proper wicked, she takes genuine delight in watching the most vulnerable suffer, and gets kicks from the misery she dishes out, pure, unfiltered nastiness.#LabourFreeloaders #RachelThieves https://t.co/aRO1eoI58A
