Reese Witherspoon has announced her divorce from husband Jim Toth after 11 years of marriage.
The Legally Blonde actress confirmed the news of their split in a statement on Instagram, days before their 12th wedding anniversary.
In the post, she insisted that their priority was their son, Tennessee Williams, and their ‘entire family’.
‘We have some personal news to share… It is with a great deal of care and consideration that we have made the difficult decision to divorce,’ she began.
‘We have enjoyed so many wonderful years together and are moving forward with deep love, kindness, and mutual respect for everything we have created together.
‘Our biggest priority is our son and our entire family as we navigate this next chapter.
‘These matters are never easy and are extremely personal. We truly appreciate everyone’s respect for our family’s privacy at this time.’
‘They really are the best of friends and this is such an amicable decision,’ an insider later told People Magazine of their split.
‘They are so committed to co-parenting together.
‘They are invested in their whole family and making this as smooth as possible for everyone.’

Reese was first linked to Jim in February, 2010, after her high-profile split from Jake Gyllenhaal.
In a candid interview with Elle Magazine in 2012, she reflected on their first meeting at a gathering, explaining that it ‘happened out of the blue’.
‘This really drunk guy was hitting on me, making such an idiot of himself, yelling at me,’ she said. ‘He was [slurring, scowling, pointing finger in her face] “You don’t know me.” And I was like, “Yeah, I know. I don’t know you!”
‘Jim came over and said, “Please excuse my friend. He’s just broken up with someone.” Jim was a really good friend, pulling him out of that situation. That’s just kind of who he is, a really good person.’
They soon became inseparable and announced their engagement at the end of the year.
After a whirlwind engagement, they said ‘I do’ on March 26, 2011, at the bride’s country estate in California.
The couple share 10-year-old son Tennessee, while Reese is also mom to Ava and Deacon from her marriage to Ryan Phillippe.
News of their split may come as a shock as the former couple recently shared a glimpse into their stunning family Christmas together.
In a series of snaps on social media, they could be seen posing in front of their sensationally decorated home, surrounded by their children.

Alongside one post, the mom-of-three wrote: ‘Wishing all of YOU a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from our family to yours!’
Reese also commemorated their marriage on Instagram to mark their last wedding anniversary, with a sweet selfie.
She added at the time: ‘Happy Anniversary JT!! 11 years of adventures, love & laughter. I feel so lucky to share this wonderful life with you.’
