The key events for Thursday 15 September

Thursday 15 September marks the first full day that Queen Elizabeth II’s coffin will lie in state in Westminster Hall – she will remain there until the morning of her funeral.

Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to queue up in London to file past the late Monarch’s coffin and pay their respects in Westminster Hall – the 11th-Century building is the oldest part of the Palace of Westminster.

So far, there is already a huge queue and it is expected to travel along the South Bank, past the National Theatre, the Tate Modern and HMS Belfast, through to Southwark Park.

The UK government has issued a live queue tracker for people to follow on Youtube.

Read our official guidance on what you can take and what you can’t, how long you’ll be waiting and how to prepare for viewing the coffin.

Members of the public can view the Queen’s closed coffin which is resting on a catafalque and under heavy security.

The Queen’s funeral will take place on Monday 19 September at Westminster Abbey. She will be buried on the grounds of Windsor Castle alongside her late husband, the Duke of Edinburgh.
