Queen Elizabeth II’s – End the Elizabethan era, start of the Carolean age
Today marks the end of the national mourning period following the death of Queen Elizabeth II. The King has said the royal family will continue to observe a period of mourning for another week before returning to their royal duties.
The death of the Queen – Britain’s longest-serving monarch, has seen an unprecedented outpouring of grief from across the country and the world. And there were scenes similar to Britain’s heartbreak when Princess Diana died in 1997.
The Queen’s state funeral on Monday will be remembered for its splendour and pageantry. From the Westminster Abbey service to the committal in her beloved Windsor and finally, a private burial alongside her late husband – attended only by family.
It was a perfect way to end the Elizabethan are and usher in the new Carolean age.
