Princess Kate has been wished a very happy birthday by King Charles as she celebrates her 42nd birthday today.
The official Twitter account of the King and Queen posted a never-before-seen photo of Kate from the Coronation last May, including an accompanying birthday message. It read: “Wishing The Princess of Wales a very happy birthday today!”
The throwback picture shows Kate in her Coronation robes and stunning head piece smiling sweetly at King Charles, who is also wearing his robes and the Imperial State Crown. The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh can be seen laughing in the corner of the picture.
Royal fans were quick to send their own wellwishes to Kate, and many were delighted to see the throwback picture.
One person wrote: “Aww what a beautiful picture! I love it [heart face emoji] Happy birthday to our amazing Princess of Wales! I hope she will have a great day and a wonderful new year! We all love you, Catherine.”

Within half an hour of the account sharing the image, it has been viewed by over 40,000 people.
Kate is expected to spend her birthday at her home with her family.
An insider told the Daily Mail: “They’ll be at Windsor as the children are just about to start back at school, so it will just be family. But to be honest, that’s just the way she likes it.”
