Concerns are growing within royal circles over Prince Harry‘s future.
Speaking exclusively to Daily Express US, Tom Quinn, author of Gilded Youth: An Intimate History of Growing Up in the Royal Family, shares the private conversations he has had with Palace insiders.
One insight that stands out from his behind-closed-doors chats is that Harry’s “complaining” has cast doubt over his future role within the Firm.
The bleak prognosis comes exactly 10 months after the Duke released his tell-all memoir, Spare.
The book was viewed by many as the culmination of his efforts to expose royal life for what it is. It also served as the clearest expression yet of his frustrations about being the royal “spare” in his family.

However, by placing all his stock in grievance-pedalling, Harry might now be heading for a fall, insiders warn.
Quinn explained: “Someone who worked for Harry when they were at Frogmore in Windsor said to me: ‘What are they going to do when people lose interest in all the complaining? What happens when the complaining has to stop? What positive role can he have as a royal?'”
The warning comes at a critical juncture for Harry, the royal author says.
“Harry’s made it very clear he feels horribly, badly treated. And I think he’s already beginning to regret it because he understands the value of being a member of the Royal Family.”

Harry’s position within the line of succession gets to the heart of his frustrations, opines Quinn.
The Duke has always played second fiddle to his older brother Prince William, who is first line to the throne.
And has slowly moved down the line of succession with the birth of each of his older brother’s children.
As of 2023, Harry is fifth in line to the throne.
“All Harry’s complaining is really about the fact that he’s not number one, he doesn’t have a bigger role,” Quinn claimed.
This explains why Harry was drawn to Meghan Markle in the first place, the royal author reckons – she offered him a way out.
“I think that’s why he clicked with Meghan because she comes from a society where if you work hard and you’re talented, you can get to the top.”
With Meghan by his side, so the thinking goes, Harry could escape the rigid heirachy he was born into and reshape his destiny in America, Quinn added.
