Premier League fixtures this weekend – 17/02 & 18/02
Top-flight English football returns this weekend, as the Premier League is back in action, with seven fixtures on Saturday and two on Sunday.
The title race remains tight between the top six teams, and dropping points at this crucial stage could prove costly. If you’re not heading to the game this weekend, here’s where you can watch them on TV in the UK.
Premier League fixtures – Saturday 17
Premier League fixtures this Saturday | Premier League kick-off | Where to watch |
---|---|---|
Brentford vs Liverpool | 12:30 | TNT Sport |
Burnley vs Arsenal | 15:00 | |
Fulham vs Aston Villa | 15:00 | |
Newcastle United vs AFC Bournemouth | 15:00 | |
Nottingham Forest vs West Ham United | 15:00 | |
Tottenham Hotspur vs Wolverhampton Wanderers | 15:00 | |
Manchester City vs Chelsea | 17:30 | Sky Sport |
Liverpool are the first team in action this weekend, taking on Brentford. A win will see the Reds extend their lead at the top of the table – by 5 points, if only for a few hours. A win for Brentford would see them move into 13th place.
Arsenal, currently in third, could move into second place – depending on City’s results later in the day. They take on Burnely and securing all three points will be crucial in their hopes of winning the title.
City take on Chelsea and a win could see them leapfrog Liverpool to take the top spot (providing Liverpool fail to win their match). Chelsea – who have had another poor season so far, could move up the table and into 7th place if they were able to beat last season’s treble winners.
Premier League fixtures – Sunday 18
Premier League fixtures this Sunday | Premier League kick-off | Where to watch |
---|---|---|
Sheffield United vs Brighton & Hove Albion | 14:00 | Sky Sports |
Luton Town vs Manchester United | 16:30 | Sky Sports |
Sunday’s fixtures give bottom-of-the-table Luton the chance to put some space between them and the relegation zone. Currently, in 17th place, they are only just out of the zone, and securing something from the United game would be beneficial.
A win for United would see them stay in sixth on the table but if Spurs and Villa drop points, the Red Devils would be closer to leapfrogging their way into the top 4.
Bottom of the table Sheffield United must win their match against Brighton. It won’t be enough to take them out of the relegation zone, but if Burnely drops points against Arsenal, they could move into 19th place and offer up a very slim hope of being back in the league next season.
