It’s been a truly magical Christmas for Emily Atack, who announced on Saturday that she was expecting her first child.
But the happy news came as a surprise for some seeing as the 34-year-old star has kept her relationship with her partner very much under wraps.
Emily’s rep has previously confirmed that she’s dating Dr Alistair Garner (yep, he’s a scientist, no biggie) but how much is known about the dad to be?

Who is Dr Alistair Garner?
According to his LinkedIn profile, Dr Alistair Garner is a Materials scientist.
He specialises in aerospace and nuclear applications which is most likely as mind-boggling as it sounds.

Garner got his PhD and Masters from the University of Manchester and also worked there as a lecturer.
As for his undergrad degree, Alistair attained that at Keele University and according to MailOnline is in his mid-to-late 30s.
The outlet adds that Emily’s boyfriend is currently a senior consultant for US company Core Materials at Jacobs.

The lovebirds started their romance earlier this year but have only ever been snapped together on one occasion, that being in September in London.
It was only when Emily announced their baby news this week that they officially went public with their romance.

Well, sort of. Although Emily didn’t mention her boyfriend by name, she did say ‘we’ when sharing their exciting baby news.

According to the Sun, Emily and Alistair recently moved in together.
A source told the outlet: ‘Her relationship with Alistair has gone from strength to strength and they’ve moved into together.’

She’s also previously been linked to the likes of Harry Styles and fellow comedian Seann Walsh.

How did Emily Atack announce she was expecting a child with Dr Alistair Garner?
The Inbetweeners star announced the incredible news on Instagram on Saturday.
Sharing a photo of her growing bump, the actor asked followers to ‘go easy’ on her.
‘Hello Everyone, it’s been a little while but I’m back with some news. I’m delighted to share with you all that we’re having a baby!!’ she began.
‘I’ve never been so happy and utterly terrified at the same time. Please go easy on me.’

Emily continued: ‘Every day is mixed with thrill, fear, joy, hysteria, topped off with a lot of vomiting – a bit like when you’ve just stepped off of the Oblivion at Alton Towers on a hangover.’
The actress continued to be candid about her journey so far, and how much it’s changed her perspective of her body.
‘I’ve got to know my body on such an insane level. It’s made me appreciate the one I’ve been given SO much, I’m doing my absolute best to make it a home for the little squid I’m growing.
‘We can already sense the baby is reclined on a mattress of peanut butter and jam sandwiches in there, demanding more chocolate buttons.
‘I’m so happy to be writing all of this to you all. You’ve always stuck by me through the years, do stick around to watch me enter my mum era. Christ. Let’s go,’ she concluded.
