Ukraine orphans heading to Scotland – Ian Blackford 

Leader of SNP says plane ready to leave UK to pick up the 50 Ukraine orphans to bring them to Scotland to start their new lives. He thanks the govt for its help and says he hopes that more follows. 

He says the people who bore the brunt of the health pandemic are now being hit by the cost of living crisis. The Scottish government has increased benefit payments for children. Will Westminster match that?

PM says govt is doing all it can to help and wants to do more. He says of the orphans – he says this is a good example of how the government can cooperate with the SNP. 

Blackford says inflation is up 6 per cent and climbing and says the chancellor has an extra £20bn to spend – will he use it to scrap national insurance hike? 

PM says Blackdord will get the answer following PMQs – when Sunak delivers the spring budget.

When asked if he’d support the smoking age to be raised to 21 – PM says smoking is the biggest cause of preventable death in the country and a review is underway.

PM marks two years since lockdown and says thanks to Rishi Sunak’s efforts the economy as recovered. He says economy is bigger than when the pandemic began and the govt got the ‘big calls’ right. He says Labour would have kept country in lockdown and it would have not protected P&O workers because the ships would have been kept in port.
