PM ‘furious’ after Rishi Sunak demotion comments leaked to Sunday Times
The Times says Boris Johnson is said to be furious after details leaked of a private meeting with aides in which he suggested that Rishi Sunak could be demoted.
During the meeting with No 10 aides on Monday last week the prime minister was said to have gone “tonto” after excerpts of a letter from the chancellor calling for the relaxation of travel restrictions were made public.
The Sunday Times revealed that Johnson was so angry about the letter that he suggested demoting Sunak to the role of health secretary. Those on the call were unclear if he was joking.
