Breaking News: Downing Street has confirmed that Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been moved into intensive care as his symptoms have worsened after being admitted for COVID-19.
Prime minister Boris Johnson was admitted to St Thomas’ Hospital in London on Sunday night – 10 days after testing positive for coronavirus – after continuing to display symptoms of COVID-19.
According to a spokesperson from Downing Street “Over the course of this afternoon, the condition of the prime minister has worsened and, on the advice of his medical team, he has been moved to the intensive care unit at the hospital.”
He was initially admitted “as a precaution” but Mr Johnson’s health has since deteriorated, Number 10 said.
The prime minister has now asked Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab to deputise for him “where necessary”.
