Playboi Carti is said to have been charged with misdemeanour assault in Utah earlier this month, according to local US police.
Law enforcement officials in Utah have said that Carl Reynolds, a limousine driver, was driving the 30-year-old rapper and subsequently reported him for assault.
Reynolds was said to be driving Carti – real name Jordan Carter – from the Waldorf Astoria hotel to his rehearsals on October 2 in Park City.
Reynolds told police that an argument unfolded in the car, which involved Carti and his girlfriend, and the driver claims that he intervened.
Reynolds went on to allege that during the dispute, he was struck by the rapper, which led the driver to pull over.
The limousine driver has also claimed that Carti’s head of security became involved in the argument and attempted to separate them, according to TMZ.

Reynolds, who was employed by ALC A Limousine Connection when the alleged altercation took place, additionally claimed that another driver for the company witnessed the alleged altercation.
Wasatch County police responded to the scene and documented Reynolds’ injuries. The department confirmed to TMZ that an investigation into the alleged assault is underway.
It comes after the rapper was arrested on drug and gun-related charges in 2020. He was said to have been pulled over by police in his Lamborghini Huracan on Thursday in the US state of Georgia for having an expired tag.

Carti’s vehicle was said to have been loaded with several bags of drugs, including marijuana, Xanax and codeine, alongside three firearms, according to TMZ. Photos of the items found were later posted by the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office’s Twitter account.
The month before the arrest, Carti’s home with his then-girlfriend Iggy Azalea was broken into, with over $350,000 (£285,259 at the time) worth of jewellery stolen from them.
