Pink has set the record straight following claims she was using Israeli flags in a recent performance after receiving ‘threats’ online.

The American singer, 44 – real name Alecia Beth Moore Hart – is currently on tour in the US with her Summer Carnival 2023.

In true Pink style, the shows are elaborate and there’s been no scrimping or saving when it comes to lights, costumes, dancers, or props.

However, some fans were shocked when they believed Pink’s dance crew was twirling the flag of Israel around while she sang What About Us.

Social media users then mistook her performance for her showing support towards Israel when an official Israeli digital diplomacy team thanked her.

Alongside the Israeli flag emoji and a love heart, they wrote: ‘Thank you @Pink’.

This post will be controversial for some. At this point, breathing is controversial. I am getting many threats because people mistakenly believe I am flying Israeli flags in my show. I am not. I have been using Poi flags since the beginning of this tour. These were used many,…

This comes amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, which began earlier this month when terrorist group Hamas attacked a music festival and raided Kibbutz on October 7.

Israel then retaliated with a devastating barrage of airstrikes on Gaza, with thousands of lives lost, many more injured, and hundreds of thousands of people made homeless.

Addressing the claims made about her show online, Pink took to X (formerly Twitter) to begin: ‘This post will be controversial for some. At this point, breathing is controversial.

‘I am getting many threats because people mistakenly believe I am flying Israeli flags in my show. I am not.’

She explained: ‘I have been using Poi flags since the beginning of this tour. These were used many, many years ago by the Māori people in New Zealand and because they and the Māori people are beautiful to me, we use them.

‘I do not fly flags in my show in support of anything or anyone except the rainbow flag.’

Pink declared that this will ‘remain my position.’

‘I am a human. I believe in peace. Equality. Love. I am deeply saddened by the state of the world.’

She signed off: ‘I pray for all of us.’

It has since been clarified that Poi flags – which are also white and blue, the colour of Israel’s flag – are not actually used in Māori culture.

A traditional Poi maker told New Zealand outlet 1News that Pink was likely referring to the fact the flags are attached to a Poi-like ball on a cord.

Over the past week, many celebrities have spoken out on the Israel-Hamas war.

Rob Delaney shared powerful words about the situation and was praised by his online followers for highlighting the horrific position Israeli parents find themselves in and the terror felt by Palestinians living in Gaza,

Meanwhile, Amir Khan’s wife Faryal Makhdoom used her platform to call out ‘disgraceful’ influencers who are not supporting Palestine.

The Pakistani YouTuber said the oppression of Palestinians by Israeli people has been ongoing for ‘years’.

Faryal urged people to ‘always stand for what’s right, no matter what the consequences are.’
