People planning small Christmas as prices rise
The public is planning for a smaller Christmas this year amid the cost of living crisis. A BBC survey uncovered concerns about the rising prices.
Three in five (62%) people polled said their Christmas spending plans will be smaller than usual.
Adults with a household income under £40,000 are more likely to be cutting back on their spending this Christmas.
Prices rose at their fastest rate for 40 years again in September, with UK inflation expected to keep rising.
Food, energy bills and transport costs prices all rose.
The BBC poll found that only 3% of Britons are planning a bigger Christmas this year compared with 2021.
The survey was conducted earlier in the month before the junking of the mini-budget.
