How are your Halloween decorations looking? Spooky or not, they’re probably not as realistic as this guy’s.
A German homeowner has outdone himself with decor that looks like his house is engulfed in flames. Every window in the house seems to be be on fire, with passersby and viewers taking it for the real thing.
Behind-the-scenes footage shows it was all set up with just three items, but not everybody on TikTok was convinced.
The video was shared by @mvxngg, saying: ‘Halloween decor! I did these windows with a bedroom sheet, two lights and a fan’.
People were divided about the display, with some saying they would call the police or fire services if they saw it and others commending the setup’s creativity.
While the creator’s original clip received more than 21,000 views, a re-share of the video amassed more than 29million.

Those who loved the display wrote: ‘Best Halloween decorations I’ve ever seen!’ and ‘That’s actually pretty cool’.
However questions were raised over whether the simulated flames were actually Halloween-related, as well as if it was a good idea to fake something so dangerous.
Followers also said the creator should alert authorities it’s just a display to avoid wasting resources, including one who commented: ‘Do you have to let the fire depot know prior just to avoid calls? So real.’

One person pointed out that ironically, it could be a fire hazard, saying, ‘When the house really catches on fire, the 911 caller will think it’s just Halloween decorations’ while another said it could well end up as a ‘boy who cried wolf’ situation.
Another added: ‘You know what’s really funny, when on Halloween someone sees a dead body or a house burning they’ll just think it’s a decoration’.
And they were onto something too, as this really did happen. A groundskeeper mowed grass around what appeared to be a Halloween prop, but was actually a dead human body.
So while there’s nothing wrong with making the neighbours double take, be careful with putting up adornments that are so true-to-life they escalate spooky fun into genuine horror.
