Paul Scholes has told Rasmus Hojlundhe needs to sharpen up his finishing (Picture: PLP
Paul Scholes was delighted with the spirit Manchester United showed in their goalless draw with Liverpool but insists one member of Erik ten Hag’s side will be disappointed with his contribution.
After a chastening week which saw a first ever home defeat to Bournemouth followed by an ignominious Champions League group stage exit, United fans could be forgiven for feeling pessimistic ahead of a return to the scene of last season’s 7-0 thrashing.
Instead, the Red Devils gave an assured an obdurate performance and restricted their hosts to only a handful of opportunities and in doing so ended Liverpool’s 100% home record this season.
United could even have pinched a win late on only for Rasmus Hojlund to fire his shot straight at the chest of Alisson Becker when through on goal.
The summer signing’s wait for a first Premier League goal goes on and Scholes feels the £72million purchase needs to tidy up his finishing urgently.

‘I thought they did well and stood up to everything Liverpool threw at them really.’ Scholes told Premier League Productions.
‘I thought watching the game they were very comfortable. There was nothing really clear cut and they could’ve nicked that game in the end.
‘Hojlund had the best chance of the game didn’t score it. We know he’s not got a Premier League goal yet and he needs to tidy up that finishing side of his game.
‘Concentration’s got to be there if you’re a goalkeeper, a centre half or a centre forwards.
‘They’re key moments that can change his career as a Manchester United centre forward so far.
‘Scoring a winning goal at Anfield is a big thing to do so he’ll be a little bit disappointed and a disappointed with his all round performance.’
