Levi Colwill’s future at left-back has been questioned after Chelsea’s damaging Carabao Cup semi-final first leg defeat to Middlesbrough.
Hayden Hackney scored before half-time to give Michael Carrick’s side the lead and they held on for victory ahead of the second leg at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea missed good chances through Cole Palmer and Raheem Sterling, and the Blues failed to get back into the match after Hackney’s opener.
The goal came after some sloppy defending from the visitors, with Chelsea left ruing their failure to score the first goal.
Isiah Jones ran off Colwill, who was playing in an unorthodox left-back position and twisted the defender one way and the other before setting up Hackney to slot in.
And, following Colwill’s difficult night, Chelsea hero Nevin says there are question marks over whether the defender can play the role.

‘It did not have to be anything complicated,’ Nevin told 5Live.
‘Get it over the top of the Chelsea defenders and Isaiah Jones will run on to it. When he got to the byline he did not panic and that was the difference between him and the Chelsea players.
‘Jones was doing it time and time again, he was a consistent danger.
‘Do Chelsea play Levi Colwill at left-back again? There are a few questions for Chelsea.’
