A star of The Only Fools and Horses spin-off Lisa Diveney has revealed she has been the voice of a famous mouthwash brand for years – and none of us had any idea.
The Welsh actress, 39, starred for three years as Beth in the Only Fools and Horses spin-off The Green Green Grass, which followed Del Boy and Rodney’s associate Boycie after leaving Peckham.
In addition to her work on that series, which ran from 2005 to 2009, she also appeared on Call the Midwife and has had a lengthy career on the stage, starring opposite likes of Helena Bonham Carter.
But away from stage and screen, Lisa revealed to Metro.co.uk‘s Sixty Seconds that she has been ‘the voice of Corsodyl for years’.
Discussing her career candidly, she said: ‘I’ve been quite lucky to do [TV and the stage], but theatre is always much more interesting. I’m a jobbing actor and have never been in a position to turn work down.’

She continued: ‘But doing voiceovers changed my life. I’ve been the voice of Corsodyl for years. And I do loads of other stuff. The money is amazing. So it takes the pressure off.’
Cosordyl was first launched in Germany during the 1970s before spreading across Europe and the world to be sold in over 30 countries internationally.
One of the mouthwash brand’s most famous adverts came in 2012, when a woman applying make-up in the mirror starts noticing that blood is dripping from her eye.
Lisa’s voiceover then says: ‘We wouldn’t ignore blood from any other part of our body, so why do we ignore it from our gums?’ before warning viewers about the dangerous of gum disease.

Despite having been on stage with the likes of Star Wars actor Iain McDiarmid and Shaun of the Dead and Downton Abbey actress Penelope Wilton, Lisa says that it’s her work with Corsodyl that’s been among the most rewarding.
‘Honestly, they helped me buy my house! I should have a little Corsodyl plaque on the wall outside,’ she joked, adding that her voiceover work allows her more choice when it comes to the acting roles she takes on TV and the stage.

As well as being featured opposite Star Wars and Harry Potter actors, Lisa has also shared a stage with Jared Harris, best known for his work on Netflix historical drama The Crown and US drama Mad Men.
That production, The Homecoming, was something Lisa says she desperately wanted to do. And thanks to her voiceover work with Corsodyl, it was something she was able to do.
‘It enables me to make choices with what roles I do. With The Homecoming, I had such a physical reaction when I was auditioning. And then I became obsessed with it while I was filming a supermarket ad in Warsaw. I wanted to do the play so badly.’
The Green Green Grass is available to stream on NOW.
