Ghostrunner 2 – can it really not wait another month or two? (Picture: 505 Games)
Two more games are said to be launching the same week as Alan Wake 2, making life even more miserable for Remedy.
You’d think with how crowded October is for major video game releases, such as Super Mario Bros. Wonder and Spider-Man 2, that most publishers would deliberately avoid it for the time being.
Activision has wisely opted to wait till November before launching its next Call Of Duty and even Remedy realised it was best to push Alan Wake 2 back by 10 days, to avoid being drowned out.
Turns out that delay may not help it after all, as Ghostrunner 2 is now confirmed to launch the very same week as Alan Wake 2, possibly along with Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2.
Earlier today, the ever-reliable billbil-kun claimed that Ghostrunner 2, the sequel to the cyberpunk parkour original from 2020, would launch on October 26.
Given their track record, perhaps 505 Games figured there was no point pretending otherwise, as it formally announced the launch date while also acknowledging the leak.
‘Despite our best ninja skills, we couldn’t stop the news leaking on Ghostrunner 2,’ it tweeted.
The October 26 launch date sandwiches it right between Alan Wake 2 and the Alone In The Dark remake, which arrives the day before on October 25.
As for Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, while not confirmed, a new rumour points to it launching on October 27, the same day as Alan Wake 2.
It’s no secret that the Bloodlines sequel has been suffering from a troubled development, as evidenced by the multiple delays, a change in developer, and a dearth of meaningful updates.
Fans don’t even know who the new developer is, after publisher Paradox Interactive announced in February 2021 that it had moved the project away from Hardsuit Labs.
However, Paradox has teased it will have something of a re-reveal for the game at PAX West, which runs from September 1 to September 4.

Recently, Twitter user GamerTrader1 spotted listings for Bloodlines 2 on a German retail website, which has it marked for an October 27 launch. We’ve checked the website ourselves and, at the time of writing, can confirm this is the case.
Even if this turns out to be a mistake, it’s entirely possible that Paradox will have a new launch date to share at the panel, perhaps for 2024. It would certainly fare a lot better during 2024’s early months, as there’s so far very little in the way of big name competition at that time.
