North Korea fires cruise missiles off east coast, Seoul reports
North Korea has reportedly launched multiple cruise missiles in waters off its east coast, according to South Korea’s military.
The nuclear-armed state has been conducting frequent missile tests in recent months, heightening regional tensions. The latest launch occurred near the port of Sinpo, with the exact number and type of missiles yet to be confirmed.
Just days earlier, North Korea test-fired a new strategic cruise missile named Pulhwasal-3-31, as reported by South Korea’s Yonhap news agency.
The Sunday launch took place at 08:00 local time (23:00 GMT Saturday), prompting South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) to closely coordinate with the United States in monitoring any further provocations from North Korea.
