The i says NHS workers are desperately trying to clear huge waiting lists while juggling the treatment of an influx of Covid patients, leading medics have said.
One A&E doctor told i of the grim realities of working a shift in her department, which is seeing up to 70 extra patients a day as bed numbers dwindle.
And another leading medic in the field said hospitals are “very full and busy trying to catch up” and that even a few Covid admissions can become disruptive.
