Trump sticks with discredited coronavirus treatment

BBC News says President Trump has again defended the use of hydroxychloroquine to ward off coronavirus, contradicting his own public health officials.

He argued the malaria medication was only rejected as a Covid-19 treatment because he had suggested it.

Fears grow over complacency as Japan sees nationwide coronavirus spike

Japan Times says the recent nationwide surge in coronavirus infections is raising questions over whether Japan will reimpose a state of emergency, with the central government’s seemingly wait-and-see attitude prompting some medical experts to warn about a growing burden on the nation’s health care system while pushing for a longer-term approach.

With 239 new infections in Tokyo on Sunday, the capital surpassed the 200 mark for the sixth straight day. A day earlier, there were 803 new cases reported nationwide, pushing the country’s cumulative total over 30,000.

Sky News says Amber Heard is a “compulsive liar” and a “wholly unreliable witness” who has changed her story and swapped key dates in a bid to manipulate the case, Johnny Depp’s lawyers have argued at the High Court.

In the final day of speeches and submissions, Depp’s barrister David Sherborne told the court that Heard’s “lack of” credibility was key to the case, drawing on several examples – including the unexpected introduction of Kate Moss into the case

I’m bowling as well as ever and I don’t feel like the old outcast – Broad

BBC Sport says Stuart Broad says he is bowling “as well as ever” after he took his 500th Test wicket as England wrapped up a series victory against West Indies at Emirates Old Trafford.
