The Independent – Gove calls on Truss to ditch tax cuts for the rich
Liz Truss’s mini-budget has been heavily criticised by Michael Gove as having the “wrong values”, reads the front page of The Independent.
The paper says Gove criticised the measures as being not Conservative and came at a time when pressure was mounting on PM Truss to perform a U-turn on the controversial plan to axe the 45p income tax band – which gifts an average £10,000 to the 600,000 highest earners in the UK at a time when ministers are eyeing real-term cuts to welfare benefits.
