A-level results hit all-time high as 45% of grades are A or A*
The Metro says almost half of A-Level grades have been awarded an A or A* in an all-time high after exams were cancelled for the second year running.
Pictures show ecstatic students hugging friends and family as more than two in five (44.8%) entries are awarded an A or A* grade in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
This marks a surge from last year when 38.5% scored the top grades after Covid shut schools for the first time.
A record number of students have been accepted on to UK degree courses this year, Ucas figures show.
