Netflix finally releases all seasons of ‘one of the best shows ever on TV’

Netflix viewers can now binge all seasons of a series labelled as the ‘greatest family drama of all time’.

Created by Friday Night Lights’ Jason Katims, Parenthood ran for six seasons from 2010 until 2015.

Loosely based on the 1989 film of the same name starring Steve Martin, the series was set in Berkeley, California and followed three generations of the Braverman family – patriarch Ezekiel ‘Zeek’ Braverman, matriarch Camille Braverman, and the families of their four children Adam, Sarah, Crosby, and Julia.

Some of the cast included Ray Romano, Lauren Graham, Dax Shepard, Peter Krause and Craig T. Nelson.

The series currently holds an 88% rating on review site Rotten Tomatoes, with fans posting their opinions of the show on there.

‘Absolutely love it! This is one of the best shows I’ve seen in a long time. It’s got real life stories that make me laugh and then 5 min later it will make me cry. Amazing actors and scripts. Brilliantly balanced, I just love it. I could watch it every day,’ Avata shared.

‘I cry every episode. This is such an amazing series. They are like family to me. I love this show & the writing team,’ someone else posted.

‘Words can’t describe how outstanding this show is. Full of emotion and humour, it all comes together to create a fantastically directed show leading the audience itching to know what happens in the next episode,’ another added.

This week the entire show was released on the streaming service.

‘Parenthood is on Netflix!! This was my This is Us before This is Us!’ Siddhant posted on X.

‘Oh my god they put parenthood back on Netflix I’m gonna bawl my eyes out I love my Braverman family,’ PJ shared.

‘Just started watching Parenthood on Netflix and why am I crying for every episode so far,’ Farahanis added.

Meanwhile on Reddit, other fans labelled it ‘the greatest family drama of all time’.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter in 2015, Jason reflected on the impact of the series.

‘The thing I’m most proud of about what we’ve done on the show is that we’ve told stories and haven’t shied away from telling them in a way that was very specific and very detailed. I’m very proud that we told those stories and that’s what made people lean in and watch the show,’ he said.

‘Hopefully, that’s what people will remember us as: like a family that always came together — and there was incredible strength in that despite the very difficult things and all the curveballs that life throws at you.

Nearly a year ago it was announced Netflix has acquired the series however it was initially not released in the UK, with the recent drop a welcome surprise for many.

It had previously only been available to rent here on Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV Plus.
