Now the weather is getting colder, many of us have retreated indoors to settle into our cosy clothes for lengthy Netflix binge-watches.

And to celebrate the festive season approaching, there are plenty of new titles to choose from as well as long-standing classics on the streaming service to help shut out the dreary days and long nights.

As Halloween becomes a distant memory, Christmas vibes reign supreme and our viewing habits reflect that with one festive flick being watched more than 18 million times in the last week.

But we haven’t fully left horror behind, with two terrifying titles rounding out the top three of this week’s most-watched list.

So, in the spirit of the run-up to Christmas (aka spending as much time indoors as possible watching TV to save the pennies), here are the 10 films everyone is talking about – and currently streaming…

    Harold and the Purple Crayon

Harold and the Purple Crayon is a 2024 fantasy comedy film based on the 1955 children’s book by Crockett Johnson.

It follows Harold, a young boy, who lives inside a book. With the help of his trusty magic purple crayon, he can make anything he draws come to life.

So, when Harold grows up, he decides to draw himself into the physical world where he must learn how to navigate real life – some of which is not on his terms.

Sounds like a perfect family film to watch on a cold winter’s night, don’t you think?

Last week, Harold and the Purple Crayon was watched 3,300,000 times

    The Angry Birds Movie 2

The second Angry Birds movie sees the Bird and Piggy Islands under threat, after Zeta, the leader of Eagle Island, attempts to invade them.

Red and Leonard must join forces to stop Zeta before it’s too late. Will the flightless birds, along with the help of their loyal team, achieve their mission and save the day?

Last week, The Angry Birds Movie 2 was watched 3,300,00 times

    Just Go With It

Millennials everywhere rejoiced when this iconic 2011 Jennifer Aniston–Adam Sandler rom-com was recently added to Netflix.

Just Go With It sees Sandler stars as successful plastic surgeon, Dr Danny Maccabee, who uses his old wedding ring to attract women by pretending to be in an unhappy marriage.

But when Danny meets school teacher Palmer, he wants to take things further than usual.

He convinces his assistant, Katherine, to pretend to be his ex-wife in a bid to score the woman – he thinks – he wants to settle down with. But has the right person been there all along?

Last week, Just Go With It was watched 3,600,000 times

    The Secret Life of Pets

This animated comedy film follows Max, a pet dog, who becomes jealous when his owner Katie brings home another dog called Duke.

However, when the two canines learn that Katie is in danger, they must put their differences aside to save their beloved master.

Last week, The Secret Life of Pets was watched 3,900,000 times

    Alita: Battle Angel

Ready for a cyberpunk action film? Alita: Battle Angel is based on Yukito Kishiro’s manga series Gunnm, and centres around Alita, a battle cyborg with the soul of a teenager.

When she is revived by a doctor named Ido 300 years after Earth was devastated by a catastrophic war, Alita is free to navigate her new life in an unknown world.

Will she be able to pick back up where she left off and find her true identity?

Last week, Alita: Battle Angel was watched 3,900,000 times

    Sing

Hit animated film Sing follows Buster Moon, a koala who owns a struggling theatre.

While trying to find ways to save his business, he decides to launch a singing competition to encourage people back into the arts.

But when his elderly assistant, iguana Miss Crawly accidentally sets the prize money as $100,000 instead of $1,000, Buster Moon must also find a way to come up with the money… fast!

Last week, Sing was watched 4,200,000 times

    Martha

Martha is the new 2024 documentary film which explores the life of lifestyle icon, Martha Stewart.

Using intimate interviews with Stewart, diary entries and never-before-seen photos and letters, the doc provides a rare insight into how Martha Stewart became the household name she is today.

Last week, Martha was watched 6,200,000 times

    Don’t Move

This intensely chilling psychological thriller focuses on a young woman named Iris, who is injected with a paralytic agent by a ruthless serial killer.

Given 20 minutes to run and hide before her body shuts down completely, Iris must literally fight for her life before she is left to the mercy of her hunter.

If you’re not quite over the Halloween season yet, you’ll definitely want to add this one to your watchlist.

Last week, Don’t Move was watched 9,100,000 times

    Time Cut

Another horror film for those who love a good old dose of suspense has entered Netflix’s most-watched list this week.

Time Cut is about high school student, Lucy Field, who accidentally travels back in time to 2003 in a bid to save her sister, Summer, from being murdered by a serial killer.

But, things take an even darker turn when Lucy discovers who the killer is…

Last week, Time Cut was watched 14,900,000 times

    Meet Me Next Christmas

This is your sign that we’ve officially entered the run-up to Christmas.

Meet Me Next Christmas – which has knocked the other entries out of the park figure-wise – stars Christina Milian as Layla, a hopeless romantic looking for love.

Desperate to find the man of her dreams just in time for the big day, she races across New York City in search of a ticket to a sold-out Pentatonix Christmas concert.

Last week, Meet Me Next Christmas was watched 18,100,000 times
