NBA star Ja Morant has been suspended after appearing to hold gun in a social media video – two months on from serving an eight-game ban for a similar incident.
In March, the Memphis Grizzlies star was suspended for eight games without pay by the NBA for ‘reckless’ conduct which was considered ‘detrimental to the league’ after brandishing a gun.
Morant, 23, apologised to his family, team-mates and coaches after the first video came to light.
He said: ‘I take full responsibility for my actions… I’m sorry to my family, team-mates, coaches, fans, partners, the city of Memphis and the entire Grizzlies organisation for letting you down.’
A similar video surfaced on social media over the weekend and the Memphis Grizzlies have suspended Morant from ‘all team activities’.
‘We are aware of the social media video involving Ja Morant,’ a statement read. ‘He is suspended from all team activities pending League review. We have no further comment at this time.’
NBA spokesperson Mike Bass added that the league was ‘in the process of gathering more information’ on the incident.

Following Morant’s suspension in March, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said: ‘Ja’s conduct was irresponsible, reckless and potentially very dangerous.
‘It also has serious consequences given his enormous following and influence, particularly among young fans who look up to him.
‘Ja has also made it clear to me that he has learned from this incident and that he understands his obligations and responsibility to the Memphis Grizzlies and the broader NBA community extend well beyond his play on the court.’
Morant, who is a two-time NBA All-Star, averages 26 points per game for the Grizzlies over the past three seasons.
The Memphis Grizzlies made the NBA play-offs for a third successive year this season but came up short in the first round as they lost 4-2 to LeBron James’ Los Angeles Lakers.
