Nadine Dorries and Jacob Rees-Mogg criticised over Partygate probe
Nadine Dorries and Jacob Rees-Mogg are among the most prominent Tories who have been heavily criticised by a Commons committee of waging a campaign to undermine its investigation into former prime minister Boris Johnson.
Johnson quit as an MP following the Privileges Committee report which found he had deliberately misled Parliament over Partygate during Covid lockdowns.
Nadine Dorries and Rees-Mogg have also quit as MPs. Mogg was included on Johnson’s honours list and became a Sir but Dorries was blocked from a peerage and won’t be joining Mogg in the House of Lords.
In a new report, the committee accused the allies of Johnson of mounting “vociferous attacks” on the committee.
Other Tory MPs criticised in the report include Priti Patel and Lord Goldsmith, who is a serving minister.
