Whose boots are these? (Picture: YouTube)
Its international Mass Effect Day today and it seems like BioWare is hinting at a new trailer for The Game Awards next month.
By the time Mass Effect 4 Is released it’s going to be around 20 years since the original Mass Effect trilogy appeared. A lot has changed in that time… but not the fact that N7 Day never manages to deliver on fan hopes for major revelations.
This year is at least better than last though, which only feature a short and unenlightening audio conversation between Liara and the Geth. At first, this year’s seems even worse, because it’s just someone’s boots walking along, but what it implies is pretty exciting.
Hidden within an otherwise uninteresting blog, fans found a hidden binary code that translates to the word Epsilon and revealed a hidden countdown that ended with the video below. A video that looks very much like a smaller segment from a larger clip.
Epsilon is both an early codename for Mass Effect and the fifth letter of the Greek alphabet. Although many fans try to forget spin-off Andromeda, and refer to the new game as Mass Effect 4, technically it will be the fifth entry in the series.
We don’t think it’s possible to tell who it is wearing the boots in the video but not only is it The Game Awards in a month’s time, but BioWare has used the event multiple times before to preview their games, so this is very probably teasing a new reveal there.

N7 Day is a yearly celebration for the series, its name and date inspired by the ‘N7’ logo featured on Commander Shepard’s in-game armour.
The new blog to celebrate the day doesn’t offer any other new information and it’s still very hard to say when Mass Effect 4 will be released, given Dragon Age Dreadwolf would have to come out first and that doesn’t have a date yet either.
If you’re a superfan though, some new merch has been released today on the BioWare Gear Store, including a mini-replica Claymore Shotgun and Omni-Blade LED wall art.
There’s also a bunch of new statutes from Dark Horse Comics, as well as a new Humble Bundle for charity. If you’ve wanted to wear a park inspired by Garrus, there’s that too, as well as new line in plushies and pin badges.
