A mum was left completely stunned when she went through her laundry and found her nan’s ashes.

Briley Coates was unloading the washing machine when she spotted a small black bag inside.

And after looking closer she realised the bag contained her nan’s ashes.

Briley, 30, was shocked into laughter by the discovery and still hasn’t figured out how her nan’s remains ended up in the washing machine.

But her main suspect is her mischievous pet cat, appropriately named Menace.

Briley, from Norfolk, said: ‘I pulled my washing out when I saw the ashes at the bottom of the machine and started laughing, but I was also massively confused as to how she got in there – she was meant to be in a drawer upstairs.

‘Menace must have pulled her bag out of the drawer after seeing the tie hanging out.

‘He really is a menace; I’ve just found him running around with her in his mouth.

‘I instantly laughed, and I wasn’t in any type of mood anymore.

‘My nan always said she would always be around, and I do believe in things like that.

‘My mum absolutely loved it; she instantly said that it’s my nan playing tricks on me.’

Briley reckons that Menace managed to get into the drawer where her nan’s ashes were stored, before knocking the bag into a pile of laundry – and she probably scooped it up while putting a load on.

But thankfully it appears the ashes are safe, as they were in a plastic bag within the black mesh bag.
