Would you wear your phone?
Nineties children rejoice – Motorola has developed a bendy phone that works like a slapband.
That’s right, a smartphone you can bend around your wrist.
What’s more, it uses AI to create a display that matches your outfit.
The innovative prototype was unveiled at the Motorola Mobility division at the Lenovo Tech World event.
When in its flat position, the adaptable screen functions like a typical smartphone, offering a complete Android experience on its 6.9-inch display.
But with a picture of the day’s outfit, its generative AI tool will create multiple original artworks to change the phone’s appearance in real time and match it seamlessly with the wearer’s style.

In addition, the bendable concept enables a number of self-stand modes, perfect for watching a movie on the train or creating a mini tripod for capturing selfies and videos.
A soft orange fabric covering currently serves as the phone’s backing, but who knows what will be on offer when – or if – it comes to market.
Motorola unveiled an earlier version of the tech way back in 2016, but it’s fair to say this one has come on quite a bit.
Of course, there are some questions to be answered. What happens if it falls off? Do I have to hold my arm like a waiter carrying a napkin all day? How much will it cost?
Nevertheless, the shape-shifting phone gives an exciting glimpse into the future of bendy tech.
A range of foldable flip phones are already on the market and proving popular, including Motorola’s Rzr 40.
