Morrissey has cancelled two shows in the US in a social media post telling fans there has been a ‘credible threat on his life’.
In a post on his Instagram account, he announced that tonight’s show in Mashantucket, Connecticut, at Premier Theatre at Foxwoods Resort Casino, was no longer going ahead.
The caption read: ‘In recent days, there has been a credible threat on Morrissey’s life.
‘Out of an abundance of caution for the safety of both the artist and audience, tonight’s engagement at Foxwoods has been cancelled.
‘We appreciate your understanding.’
In a second post, the former Smith’s singer, 66, shared his show in Boston tomorrow night at MGM Music Hall is also cancelled, while ongoing investigations are being carried out against the threat to Morrissey’s life.’
The music artist still has several shows ahead of him on this tour, including shows in Mexico and Canada.
It has been reported that the singer received a death threat before a show he performed in Ottawa at the CityFolk Festival last week.
Local newspaper, Ottawa Citizen, revealed that a 26-year-old was released on bail after he shared an alleged threat on Morrissey’s life on Blueksy on September 4, per court documents.
A Bluesky account under the name ‘guy who gets shot in the head one hundred thousand times a day’ matches the name in the court documents obtained by the publication.

Fans have flocked to the comments to share messages of concern.
‘Stay safe,’ fan saraintheweeds wrote.
‘Safety is always the first thing that matters. I love you, Morrissey, stay safe,’ hhaydengaffneyy said.
‘What a sad world we live in today. I can’t believe you have to fear for your life for speaking honestly and rationally about the world,’ mrmmixtapesmusicart added.
In November last year, a bodyguard was injured after fans rushed the stage when a woman jumped up to hug the Suedehead hitmaker.
As three bodyguards swarmed the singer, he was eventually rushed off stage, cutting the concert short.
