That’s over 1,500 games (pic: Nintendo)
Downloading every single 3DS game from the Nintendo eShop requires a monstrous 267GB of storage, which is almost as much as Modern Warfare.
Most modern games come with stunning graphics and huge open worlds demanding hefty amounts of storage. Recent releases like Hogwarts Legacy and God Of War Ragnarök have file sizes that range from 80-85GB on next gen consoles.
Just a few downloads and your hard drive is bursting at the seams, to the point where you could trade a single game for a whole treasure trove of older ones.
The question is, how much space are you willing to sacrifice for the ultimate gaming experience?
That was probably what was going through Twitter user’s NCSmaster’s mind, when they found out that downloading the complete collection of 3DS games from the eShop was only slightly more than the whole of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
From a quick Google search, you can find out that Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone require almost 250GB of storage on PC. Although it’s doomed to increase in size, and surpass the 3DS library, once a few more updates are released.
In fact, Modern Warfare 2’s size was getting so out of hand that Activision released an update to reduce the game’s PC file size to 170GB.
At the same time the combined size of all 1,547 3DS games, which cost over $13,000 (£10,600), is 267GB.
Another Tweeter user also pointed out that downloading every single game on Wii U would take up almost as much space as six ‘modern games’, at around 1.2TB.
The discussion started when a YouTuber called The Completionist decided to take matters into his own hands and purchase every game available on the Wii U and 3DS digital stores, before they permanently close on March 27.

This meant purchasing 866 Wii U games and 1,547 3DS games, which he managed to complete in almost one year – 328 days to be exact. Moreover, The Completionist’s crazy feat cost him a whopping $22,791 (£18,600).
‘When a digital storefront shuts down or games get delisted, countless titles run that risk of being lost forever.’
‘That’s when I got a stupid crazy idea: ‘what would it take to save all those Nintendo Wii U and 3DS games from being lost,’ the YouTuber explained in his video.
The YouTuber has since revealed he’ll be donating his vintage collection to the Video Game History Foundation.
