The back page of the Daily Mirror reports on Manchester City’s 3-1 win over Manchester United to move within a point of the top of the Premier League table.
Paul Scholes gives brutally honest take on Erik ten Hag’s Man Utd future under INEOS
Paul Scholes believes Ineos and Sir Jim Ratcliffe have already decided that Erik ten Hag will not be Manchester United’s manager next season.
Ten Hag was under pressure heading into Sunday’s Manchester derby as a result of United’s underwhelming campaign and the 3-1 defeat against Manchester City is unlikely to ease the scrutiny on him. The defeat leaves United 11 points off fourth spot in the Premier League with two-thirds of the season gone.
It has been widely reported that Ineos could opt to make a managerial change ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, with Ten Hag likely to leave if the club fail to qualify for the Champions League. Scholes, however, is of the opinion that the club’s new hierarchy has already made up its mind on the Dutchman.

Erik ten Hag makes unconvincing Man Utd point after losing to Man City again
Erik ten Hag claims the gap between his side and Manchester City is “not that big” despite the champions outclassing their rivals in Sunday’s derby.
Manchester United took the lead at the Etihad but the gulf in class was highlighted as Pep Guardiola’s side eventually ran out 3-1 winners. The result means the Red Devils have now lost 11 league games this term and sit in sixth, some 18 points behind City, who are going for a fourth successive title.
United have failed to challenge for the top flight for a decade and Ten Hag has now lost four of his five games against the champions. Those defeats include a 3-0 loss at Old Trafford earlier this season and a 6-3 mauling last term. Despite that though the Dutchman believes it is small margins separating the teams.
