Mirror Sport – Sad … All Over
The back page of the Daily Mirror leads on the latest from the Premier League – as Crystal Palace ‘threw away’ the lead to see their match against Everton end 1-1.
Elsewhere, the Birmingham City boss has stepped back due to illness and Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola has apologised for comments made about Kalvin Phillip’s weight.
‘Amadou Onana rescues Everton against Crystal Palace as Toffees look towards appeal verdict’
Amadou Onana rescued a point for Everton in a week they’re hoping to get a few more back from an appeal.
Given the performance for so much of this game, it felt like one gained rather than two dropped. The Toffees nervously await the outcome of an appeal on their 10-point deduction for breaching financial rules to see if they gain a few more this week. But they are out of the bottom three for now. On goal difference at least as Luton slipped into the dreaded drop zone.

‘Pep Guardiola apologises to Kalvin Phillips for publicly shaming him over his weight’
Pep Guardiola has apologised to Manchester City star Kalvin Phillips for publicly outing him for being overweight.
Guardiola made the remarks after midfielder Phillips returned from England duty around 1.5kg overweight following the World Cup in Qatar in 2022. Phillips, on loan at West Ham until the end of the season, admitted recently that his confidence took a huge knock after Guardiola outed him over his weight.
Rival fans have since taken delight in goading Phillips over the weight issue, with Guardiola admitting he was wrong to go public with his comments. “Yeah, I’m sorry,” said Guardiola. “Once in eight years is not bad. But I’m so sorry. I apologise to him. I do apologise. I’m so sorry.”

‘Tony Mowbray stepping away from Birmingham City role due to illness’
Birmingham City have been left reeling by the news that manager Tony Mowbray is stepping down temporarily due to illness.
The club’s boss spoke to stunned players and staff on Monday morning at a private meeting at its Henley-in-Arden training base. Mowbray wanted to tell his colleagues before training in the latest episode in a chaotic campaign for the Championship club.
The prognosis is unknown but the club is only confirming that the 60-year-old Teessider will be out of action for between six to eight weeks. However, the reality is that Mowbray is unlikely to make an appearance before the end of the campaign which finishes on May 4.

‘Newcastle send Man Utd clear message over Dan Ashworth as Eddie Howe gets unlikely boost’
There is a clear message from Newcastle over the Dan Ashworth to Manchester United affair: They won’t be pushed around by a club they hope to rival in the next few years.
It can feel like paranoia and conspiracy when Newcastle and their fans talk about a ‘Big Six Cartel’ rigging the Premier League rules – mainly of a financial nature – to suit their own continued dominance and exclude upstart disruptors like the Saudi owned Geordies. But there’s a big element of truth in it.
Man United are part of the established elite who want to restrict Saudi spending through Profit and Sustainability Rules. So don’t expect Newcastle to roll over easily now Ashworth has told them he wants to go to Old Trafford.
