Miriam Margolyes is always – and we mean always – unapologetically herself, and her appearance on tonight’s Graham Norton Show proved no different.
The comedian, 82, appeared on the show this evening alongside Succession’s Sarah Snook, Boy George, and The Morning Show actor Greta Lee.
Within the first minute or so, she swore at her unruly scarf when it misbehaved – so, in true icon-Miriam fashion, she pulled it off and said: ‘F**k this scarf’.
The conversation turned to Boy George’s appearance on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here last year, which he starred in alongside disgraced former health secretary Matt Hancock – who was a sitting MP when he was messing around on the show.
Graham turned to Miriam, who confirmed yes, she had been asked to appear on the reality TV show. When quizzed as to why she turned it down, she replied apparently disgusted by the idea: ‘Are you kidding? ‘I’m not a w**re!’
A flummoxed Graham then commented: ‘No one is suggesting that, Miriam!’

Moving on.
When asked if he did the show just for the money, the 62-year-old Karma Chameleon singer joked: ‘Absolutely.’
Boy George then made it clear that was just a joke, and went into anecdotes from his time in the jungle, in which he commented how the snakes seemed to be attracted to Mr Hancock.
With whiplash comic timing, Miriam piped up and said: ‘Takes one to know one.’
Naturally, the audience roared with laughter – as is often the case when the certified national treasure is in the building.

Last year, Miriam famously swore on Radio 4 – which is a big no-no in the broadcasting world – when she was confronted with Jeremy Hunt.
Looking backon that event tonight, Miriam revealed she is very ‘upset’ and ‘appalled’ at herself – but she claimed to Graham and the gang she genuinely did not know the microphone was on.
‘I would never swear on Radio 4 ever. Radio 4 to me is a temple,’ she said, before insisting: ‘I didn’t know the mic was up! I didn’t know!
‘I was shocked. I was appalled at my own rudeness,’ she continued. ‘Please forgive me audience of Radio 4. It really was upsetting.’
The star also revealed she is looking to take the next step with her girlfriend of 54 years and move in together.
Miriam’s book, the aptly named Oh, Miriam is out now, in which she hopes to show a less rude, more serious side to her.
We’ll believe it when we see it. Oh, Miriam!
The Graham Norton Show airs every Friday night at 22:40 on BBC One.
