Paris Saint-Germain have sounded out Mikel Arteta over the vacant manager’s job at Parc des Princes.

The Ligue 1 champions are again on the lookout for a new head coach after they parted company with Christophe Galtier earlier this month.

Galtier replaced Mauricio Pochettino last summer and last less than 12 months at the helm following a turbulent campaign which saw PSG defend their domestic title by a solitary point and crash out of the Champions League at the last 16 stage following a heavy defeat against Bayern Munich.

Julian Nagelsmann looked on the brink of being appointed but the former Bayern boss, who has also recently rejected approaches from Chelsea and Spurs, is understood to no longer be interested in the role.

PSG’s sporting director, Luis Campos, is now undertaking a frantic search for a new manager and Arteta’s impressive recent record at Arsenal led him to contact his fellow Spaniard, according RMC.

Arteta, however, is reported to have given an emphatic response and informed Campos he has no intention of leaving one of his former clubs for another this summer.

The 41-year-old, who spent a year on loan in the French capital at the start of his playing career, is firmly committed to the Gunners having signed a contract extension just over a year ago.

Arteta is understood to be playing a lead role in Arsenal’s summer recruitment drive and has personally requested the signings of both Kai Havertz and Declan Rice.

The Gunners have seen opening approaches for both players rejected over the course of the last week but will return with improved offers and remain confident of landing two key targets.

Arteta also wants to sign a new right-back and have learned that Leicester will demand just €15m for Timothy Castagne who is also wanted by Juventus.
