Mexico Grand Prix Secures F1 Contract Extension Until 2028

Formula 1 has extended its partnership with the Mexico Grand Prix, finalising a three-year contract that will keep the race on the calendar until at least 2028. The renewal ensures that fans will continue to enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, which has become a staple in the F1 season.

    Excitement Surrounds Extended Deal

The Mexico City Grand Prix, revived in 2015, has quickly risen to prominence, with last year’s event welcoming an impressive 405,000 spectators over the weekend. The contract renewal comes as a reassurance to fans, especially in light of hometown hero Sergio Perez’s departure from Red Bull.

    Government Support a Key Factor

Promoters CIE have played a crucial role in negotiating the new terms, bolstered by ongoing support from government officials. Alejandro Soberon, president and CEO of CIE, expresses gratitude for the backing they have received. “This not only contributes to the economic development of Mexico City but also promotes our city and country significantly on a global stage,” he stated.

    A Commitment to Fans

F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali echoed Soberon’s sentiments, remarking that, “The unique atmosphere created by our fans in Mexico City is one of the most incredible and energetic experiences of our championship.” The partnership is expected to enhance not only the sporting event but also the economic landscape surrounding it.

    Looking Ahead to 2025

The upcoming Mexico Grand Prix is scheduled for October 26, 2025, and will be part of a double-header alongside the United States Grand Prix in Austin. With the Brazilian Grand Prix set as a standalone event, fans eagerly await what promises to be an exhilarating race weekend.

This contract extension underscores the growing partnership between Formula 1 and Mexico, ensuring that the excitement of the sport will continue to thrive in the vibrant atmosphere of Mexico City for years to come.
