Met Police to reinvestigate Caroline Flack’s assault charge before death
The Metropolitan Police will reinvestigate the lead-up to the decision to charge TV presenter Caroline Flack before her death as ‘new witness evidence may be available’, the force has said.
The Love Island presenter took her own life February 2020 aged 40 as she faced prosecution for assaulting her boyfriend Lewis Burton.
She had been arrested on suspicion of assault on December 13, 2019, following an incident with Burton the previous day.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) had recommended she only get a caution but this was overturned after the Met Police appealed and she was eventually charged with assault by beating.
