Mercedes boss reveals Carlos Sainz is on their shortlist to replace Lewis Hamilton
Mercedes boss Toto Wolff has name-checked Carlos Sainz as one of the drivers they are looking at to replace Sir Lewis Hamilton in 2025.
Hamilton is leaving Mercedes after 11 successful years at the end of the season to fulfil a childhood dream of driving for Ferrari.
He’ll be partnered with Charles Leclerc, therefore replacing Sainz who is now arguably Formula 1’s most lucrative free agent.
The Spaniard’s stock has risen considerably after a fantastic start to 2024, finishing third in Bahrain before missing the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix after undergoing appendicitis.
