Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been warned their brand ‘doesn’t carry the same weight’ without their Sussex titles.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will do their utmost to ensure their titles are not revoked, according to royal commentator Katie Nicholl.
Since the publication of Omid Scobie’s bombshell biography Endgame, speculation about the future of the Sussex title has been rife – with calls for the couple to have their ducal position stripped.
The couple have remained quiet about the allegations levelled against the Royal Family.
Nicholl however argued that any attempt to remove the titles could be met with a fierce fight from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex because of their commercial importance.
She said: “We know from this couple that they will do everything possible to hold on to those titles because without the ‘Duke and Duchess’, they’re just Harry and Meghan, and that simply doesn’t carry the same amount of weight.

“So I think it’s a case of wait and see what’s going to happen on that.”
Discussing the impact of the claims on Harry and Meghan’s relationship with the institution, GB News host Isabelle Webster pointed out that Princess Diana was stripped of her status for “far fewer transgressions”.
Nicholl replied: “She divorced the Royal Family. And some might say that’s exactly what Harry and Meghan have done in all but name.
“You know, they’ve upped and left. And, of course, there’s a possibility that the decision to strip them of their titles won’t actually have to be made by the royals.”
Under current rules, a member of the English or Welsh peerage can be stripped of their status in very specific circumstances.

But Labour MP Rachel Maclean last year introduced a new bill proposal in Parliament that could allow King Charles to remove Harry’s title much more swiftly.
Fellow MP Bob Seely this week insisted the Royal Family should consider the “nuclear option” to remove the titles after the Sussexes trashed “an institution that plays an important part in our nation’s life”.
As Maclean’s proposed bill still needs to clear the parliamentary process, Seely said he would support calls to strip the Duke and Duchess of their titles through the existing process.
Seely said: “My Titles Deprivation 1917 Act Amendment Bill would allow a vote in Parliament to advise the ancient advisory Privy Council to strip a member of the Royal Family of their titles.
“My aim is simple: if someone doesn’t want to be Royal, that is a decision we respect—but they should not keep the titles and privileges if they trash an institution that plays an important part in our nation’s life.”
