Megan McKenna announces birth of baby and reveals adorable name
Megan McKenna and her fiancé Oliver Burke have become first-time parents.
The Towie star, 32, and the footballer, 27, announced they had welcomed a baby boy on Instagram.
Megan gave birth in Germany, where she is living with Oliver as he plays for the football team SV Werder Bremen.
The X Factor: Celebrity winner shared a clip confirming her son was born on Monday weighing 9.2 pounds and was named Landon Henry Burke.
The video featured moments after the baby was delivered and the couple cradling the newborn in the hospital, as well as him feeding.
In one clip, Megan is holding the baby, which Oliver described as a ‘special moment.’
A host of celebrities offered their congratulations including Michelle Keegan and B*Witched.
Alongside three heart emojis, the Brassic actress said: ‘Congratulations’
The pop group wrote: ‘Big congrats guys. Enjoy all the cuddles with your little angel. The love bubble is amazing.’
Love Island star Laura Anderson also shared: ‘Omg huge congratulations mumma 😍 You absolute superstar!!!!! He is perfect.’
In April, Megan confirmed the couple were expecting a baby, sharing a video to Instagram with her holding up ultrasound scans.
She captioned the post: ‘A little bit of you & a little bit of me… now we’re a family.’
Megan later shared she had a tricky pregnancy after suffering from both a ‘painful abscess’ and an allergic reaction to medication which caused swelling around her tongue and neck and landed her in hospital.
At the time she told followers: ‘Now it’s all about trying to get better, it’s just so bad.
‘Just being pregnant has made my body so much more sensitive, I am allergic to everything.
‘I’ve been in so much pain. I’ve been on codeine and paracetamol and when I say that the codeine just takes the edge off, I have still been in pain. Honestly, it’s the worst thing ever, I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.’
Megan and Oliver also got candid about their pregnancy journey and detailedMegan’s fertility struggles after being diagnosed with PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) when she was younger.
The reality TV star announced her engagement to former Birmingham City and Scotland footballer Oliver in June 2023.
A video posted to their social media pages showed the pair arriving at an exotic location by boat, with Megan blindfolded, before Oliver got down on one knee, and pyrotechnics flared.
Megan wrote: ‘YES YES YES a thousand times YES.
‘You have opened up a world I never thought was possible. I love you Oliver Burke… Here’s to forever my future husband.’
She had previously been linked to Towie star Pete Wicks and Love Island contestant Mike Thalassitis, who was found dead in March 2019.
In November 2019, Megan was crowned the winner of The X Factor: Celebrity’s first series, beating off competition from professional quizzer Jenny Ryan, girl band V5 and twins Max and Harvey.
