Mason Greenwood is already keen to make his loan move to Getafe from Manchester United permanent, after enjoying his start to life in Spain.
The 22-year-old has been eased into the Getafe starting XI, making two starts in La Liga and scoring his first goal for the club last weekend in a draw at Celta Vigo.
He posted after the 2-2 draw: ‘Happy to score my first goal for Getafe. Amazing team spirit to come away with a point.’
The Sun reports that the striker is already thinking about making his loan move permanent, with his return to the field a huge morale boost after he had real concerns that his career was at an end.
Greenwood made his debut for Getade in a win over Osasuna on 24 September, which was his first competitive outing since 22 January 2022 when he played in a Manchester United win over West Ham.
Greenwood was suspended by United in January 2022 after he was arrested and subsequently charged by Manchester Police with attempted rape, controlling behaviour and assault.
All charges against Greenwood were dropped in February with United holding their own investigation into his conduct. United were strongly considering reintroducing the striker to the side in the summer before eventually opting to loan the player out to Getafe.
There could be change for Greenwood at international level as well, with Jamaica keen to tempt the forward over after making one appearance for England.
The Reggae Boyz head coach Heimir Hallgrimsson said: ‘I don’t think I am different from all coaches in the world. We would like to have the best talent on our teams.
‘If he gets his former fitness and his former level, that level could help Jamaica, and all coaches would want to have good players in their team and we are no different.’
