Marcus Rashford: Aston Villa forward ‘regaining confidence,’ Unai Emery says
Aston Villa boss Unai Emery has said Marcus Rashford is “regaining confidence” after he scored again in Wednesday’s 3-0 Premier League win over Brighton.
Rashford, who also scored twice in the FA Cup quarterfinals last weekend, is finding his feet on loan at Villa after a difficult spell at Manchester United earlier this season that saw him outcast by manager Ruben Amorim.
He continued his resurgence on Wednesday, opening the scoring early in the second half when Morgan Rogers played a long pass and Rashford kept his cool, taking one touch to control before shooting past Bart Verbruggen from outside the area.
It was his first Premier League goal for Villa.

“We practised him playing as a striker on Sunday and decided for him to carry on,” Emery told a post-match news conference. “The most important is how he is feeling and recovering confidence and being focused in only football and being comfortable with teammates.”
The England international expressed similar sentiments after his double in the FA Cup clash with Preston North End.
“It’s a great feeling. I feel like I’ve slowly been getting fitter and playing better football since I’ve been here,” Rashford told the BBC. “So yeah, it’s obviously nice for a forward to always get goals, so hopefully it continues.
