Manchester United are considering a move for Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee in the January transfer window, according to reports in Germany.
United are looking to bolster Erik ten Hag’s attacking options in the upcoming window and a new central striker is on the club’s shortlist.
Earlier this month, reports claimed that United had begun initial talks to sign Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy, who has scored 17 goals in the Bundesliga this season.
However, Sport1 reports that United are not pursuing a move for Guirassy and are exploring alternative options.
The report claims that Zirkzee is now high up on United’s shortlist, however, the Premier League club could encounter difficulty with Bayern Munich if they push ahead with an offer.

Zirkzee joined Bologna from Bayern in August 2022 but the Bundesliga champions retained a buyback option worth €22 million (£19m).
As part of their deal with Bologna, Bayern also included an option to be able to match any offer the Serie A club receives for Zirkzee.
Sport1 report that Zirkzee is currently valued at around €30m (£26m).
Zirkzee has been in excellent form for Bologna this season with seven goals in 17 Serie A appearances so far.
Newcastle United have also been linked with a move for Zirkzee, who has been capped at Under-21 level by the Netherlands.
