Manchester United boost as Thomas Tuchel ‘doesn’t want’ Matthijs de Ligt at Bayern Munich
Manchester United’s hopes of signing Matthijs de Ligt have been boosted after Thomas Tuchel decided he ‘didn’t want’ the Dutchman.
De Ligt was an unused substitute during Bayern’s 3-0 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday.
The 24-year-old told supporters he was ‘super fit’ after the defeat, after suggestions that he was left out due to an injury.
Eric Dier, a recent signing from Tottenham, started in front of De Ligt and he’s now fourth choice centre-back at the Alllianz Arena.
Though there’s speculation that Tuchel could be sacked at Bayern, he still retains favour with the board.
That’s bad news for De Ligt, who did not envisage being anything but a starter when he joined the club in a £68m deal from Juventus in 2022.
